Top 10 Single Seasons

In the long history of the CSA co-ed softball program many teams have excelled. Some have had superior seasons and quite a few were simply dominant. Through the end of the Summer 2009 season, 1233 teams had participated in the various leagues. 337 teams ended the regular season with a winning percentage better than 0.700%, 68 teams had unbeaten regular seasons and 58 of those had perfect regular seasons. We have reviewed every one of those seasons and chosen the Top 10 greatest single seasons in CSA Co-ed Softball history, playoffs included.

In Every Orphus 

Summer 2006

Playing in the Tuesday night division at Aviation Park, they became the only team in CSA history to finish a season 12-0

In Every Orphus allowed an average of 3.8 runs in the perfect season that culminated with a win in the "greatest game ever played"

Pay Attention, It's Free

Fall 2008

Playing in the Tuesday night division at Frankie Allen Park, they set the record for most wins and games played in one season

Pay Attention, It's Free scored more runs in one single season than any team in history and won an unprecedented six playoff games in one week

"Grand Finale" Champions

T 'n A

Fall 2007

Playing in the Tuesday night division at Aviation Park, they were the first franchise to start with an undefeated season

T 'n A averaged over 18 runs per game in the teams first season and rolled to the Grand Finale championship with three consecutive wins by at least 12 runs

The Independents

Fall 2002

Playing in the Monday night division in the first CSA co-ed softball league at Aviation Park, they set records for scoring and defense in the first perfect championship season in CSA history

The Independents are the only team in CSA history to average over 20 runs per game (21.3) in a championship season. They also allowed only 4.1 runs scored per game

Game's Cancelled

Spring 2006

Emerging from the highly competitive Thursday night division at Aviation Park, they lost the first game of the season and then didn't lose again.

The highlight of the championship season was a defeat of the top two seeds in the semi-finals and finals. They beat In Every Orphus and Todd's Team on consecutive days.

In Every Orphus 

Spring 2007

This was the third consecutive undefeated championship season for the team annointed as the greatest ever. They ran their record winning streak to 38 games 

The sweep of Game's Cancelled in the League Championship Series gave In Every Orphus the "Triple Crown". They were now the defending champion of all three CSA major championships

The Channel 4 News Team

Summer 2006

Playing in the Tuesday night division at Frankie Allen Park, they set scoring records on the way to a perfect regular season and a championship game appearance

During the regular season, Channel 4 scored a CSA record 81 consecutive runs over a five game stretch, including three straight shutouts

Pete Rose Bets on Us

Summer 2001

In the first year of the CSA co-ed softball program, they won five consecutive games on the way to the division title and team of the year honors

The only two regular season losses were against two teams that advanced to the semi-finals and the last two wins came on a very emotional September 12, 2001

Beer Duty

Fall 2005

After winning five division championships, they became the first major champion in CSA history by winning four times in the inaugural Grand Finale tournament

Beer Duty allowed only 18 runs in four playoff games, including routs over three future major champions: Smell the Glove, Game's Cancelled, and In Every Orphus

Smell the Glove

Summer 2007

They have become one of the cornerstone franchises in CSA history, but prior to this season no team had played more games or seasons without winning a title of any kind

Smell the Glove captured the first CSA championship by emerging as a five seed and winning four games in a row. The title capped the best season the team had ever had in seven years of play.
